The goal of LionsROAR is to have an alumni volunteer contact every student who is offered admission by phone or by e-mail, to congratulate them, invite them to visit the campus where they were offered admission, and to answer any questions the student has about Penn State.

The LionsROAR is a critical part of the recruitment year.  Students and families consistently tell us what a wonderful touch it is to hear from an alumnus who offers warm congratulations and welcomes the student to Penn State.  Volunteers tell us the student contacts they make through LionsROAR are fun and rewarding, as well. Diane from Maryland tells us about her experience with LionsROAR: "I am having a blast! The students are so upbeat and fun to talk to. It is very easy for me to share my Penn State pride and this is a great forum from which to share and to receive!"

LionsROAR starts in November when we start making offers of admission to students, and runs through early May. Volunteers can sign up to contact students from one or more of their local high schools. The Admissions Office will send the contacts to the volunteer via email or paper, but we recommend that volunteers use our LionsROAR website to retrieve and submit their student contacts.

Each fall we send admissions updates and helfpul hints to all LionsROAR volunteers. The PDF versions are available online for alumni to review and use as they contact students and their families.
