Arrival and Parking Information

We are excited to welcome you to Penn State University Park for the day during Spend a Summer Day 2022. Check-in for the event will be found on the second floor of the Shields Building. If you are driving to campus, we recommend putting “Beaver Stadium” or “Bryce Jordan Center” into your GPS until you get to campus. Once you arrive on campus, look for signage pointing you to Spend a Summer Day parking in either Jordan East Parking Lot or Stadium West Parking Lot. Complimentary parking is available in these lots. Guests are also permitted to park in a parking deck on campus for a fee of $1/hour. Parking is available at the HUB Parking Deck, East Parking Deck, West Parking Deck, and Nittany Parking Deck, although these locations are not as close to Shields Building.

After parking in either Jordan East or Stadium West take the 5-minute walk across University Drive to Shields Building to check-in for the event. Check-in and your information session will take place in 201 Shields before you head out to campus to explore throughout the rest of the day. You should plan to bring a bag with you to campus as well as a water bottle to refill throughout your visit.

On-Campus Transportation

University Park is home to 40,000+ undergraduate students. During your visit, you’ll likely do lots of walking and will get a feel for the layout and size of campus. You may want to review a campus map to prepare for your visit.

Our campus can be accessed primarily by walking; driving on campus during your visit will not be possible. If you have any questions about accessibility or accommodations, please contact us at admissions@psu.edu .

There are multiple shuttle options on campus at Penn State. For Spend a Summer Day, shuttles will operate from the Bryce Jordan to central campus throughout the event. These shuttles are one-way, and you can use them to get as close as possible to your first destination if you don’t want to walk. Central campus is about a 15 minute walk from the Bryce Jordan Center.

CATA (Centre Area Transportation Authority) operates free shuttles on a reduced service schedule during the summer. Any community member or guest can use the Blue Loop or Red Link to access campus and downtown during the day.
